Before buying
check your hardware version, there are many different versions:
5238 (compatible with
all units)
Hardware C3 to C12 can use firmware versions to 5238
Hardware C6 to C12 can use firmware versions to 5274.
Hardware C14 can use firmware 6276.  (for example

Press the SETUP button for about 20 seconds and then a second hidden menu showing the version information.

You can use firmware 5238 on any device from 2005 to October 2013 (with HDD).  Hardware C3-C12
You can update directly to 5238 with no previously update.
NOT compatible with C14 hardware starting from November 2013 (with SSD)
All firmware has VIM enabled (Video In Motion)
