    Description

    Doris Ruby (b.1916)
    Escondido, California
    Oil on Canvas
This is the kind of painting that rarely comes available. It is an original oil on canvas of sailboats at anchor by America's senior artist Doris Ruby who is presently 105 years old. Even more amazing is that her life partner Grant Ruby is 103. She remains a very well known San Diego artist spending much of her life as the artist "Grand Dame" in Escondido, San Diego County, California.
She included a typewritten bio behind the stretcher. It partially reads: "From memories of her childhood in Northern Missouri, Doris delights in painting "
tree-scapes" with old roads and bridges, reflections in water, and winding creeks.
For versatility she paints deserts, florals, seascapes and sky-scapes. Doris has developed her own technique described as warm, soft, misty and with a glow of light that adds an ethereal effect."
This painting is a tonalist nautical seascape at sunset.  Stretched canvas measures 12" by 16". Frame measures 18" by 22" with 1" linen liner. Very nicely presented, ready to hang.
