    Artist Info:
Cam de Leon (born 1961 in Modesto, California) is an American artist who specializes in surreal, dark imagery.
He is best known for creating the artwork for Tool's 1991 demo 72826 (EP), the Opiate (EP) and the Ænima album,
as well as working as a digital illustrator, doing concept and visual development and character design for the feature animation industry.
He worked as a digital illustrator for movies such as Ghostbusters, Hook, The Sum of All Fears and The Cat in the Hat.
He also worked with Nvidia on various tech demos. In 2005, he published the first compendium of his work entitled The Art and Imagery of Cam de Leon.
Info on the Tool/Cam De Leon lawsuit:
The lawsuit was originally filed in June 2005 with De Leon alleging he had created nearly all of the artwork for the band
as early as 1991 through to the release of "Aenima" in 1996.
Among De Leon's contributions were the "Tool Wrench" logo, the "Ocular Orifice", "Gnats" and "Medicine Man".
De Leon's various contributions allegedly earned him the distinction of "the closet fifth member of Tool" as was posted on their official website at the time.
De Leon's suit originally hinged on him being unhappy with what he was paid for his work and that their usage exceeded the licenses he granted them.
The group had initially sought to dismiss the ten claims filed against them back in 2006 by De Leon but a judge denied the motion.
    Outcome of Lawsuit:
Tool’s eight year lawsuit by visual artist Cam de Leon has ended with the ruling in favor of the band with no details made public.
De Leon had designed numerous artwork elements for the band at the time and felt he was unfairly paid and the band’s usage exceeded his licenses.
Los Angeles (December 05, 2014) A California judge has refused to find that Clarendon National Insurance Co. doesn’t have a duty to indemnify
the rock band Tool in a graphic designer’s suit claiming copyright infringement and defamation, ruling that the insurer failed to show that any of the exclusions
in its commercial general liability policy bar coverage.
In a ruling adopted Wednesday, Judge Deirdre Hill denied Clarendon’s motion for summary adjudication, concluding that factual disputes still exist
in the insurer’s feud with Tool over coverage for graphic designer Cameron de Leon’s now-settled suit against the band.
The judge also declined to rule that Clarendon is entitled to reimbursement for the 0,000 it paid to settle the de Leon action.
Judge Hill agreed with Tool that some of the arguments in Clarendon’s motion have already been rejected by the trial court or a state appellate court.
